This website was established in 2003 and is dedicated to
animals and pets. It includes a focus on animal afterlife from a Christian
perspective. You’ll find that it revolves around:
- Pets and Animals
- People Who Love Animals
- Biblical Appreciation
It is a support for pet owners and animal lovers in
everyday life, as well as during the time when we have to let go of our beloved
companions until we are united again in Heaven. Although there is tremendous
grief and pain at the loss of our beloved animal companions, we also remember
that God has provided the gift of eternal life for all the animals. All of
God’s children can look forward to being reunited with their animal companions again someday. When
that wonderful day arrives, we know that it will never, never end! The Bible
says that when we are absent from the body, we are present with the Lord. (II
Corinthians, Ch. 5) Although we feel the pain when a loved one departs, it is
far from the end. In fact, it is the beginning of a beautiful life of eternity
with God the way He originally planned it. Jesus said, “in My Father’s House
are many mansions, if it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a
place for you and will come back again, that where I am you may be there also.”
(Paraphrase John 14:1-4)
At eternalanimals.com you’ll find articles, stories, news,

Pete Publishing was established in 2002 and is the
publisher of the book “There Is Eternal Life For Animals,” by
Niki Behrikis Shanahan which
is based on Bible scripture. The book presents the Bible scriptures as
faith-based evidence that there is eternal life for all animals.
Niki Behrikis Shanahan was born and brought up in
Massachusetts. She currently resides there with her husband, Jack, and her two
cats, Luke and Joey.
It wasn’t until she was 35
years old that she adopted her first pet, Pete, the cat that was the inspiration
for the book “There Is Eternal Life For Animals.” Pete was 8
years old when the Shanahans adopted him from a neighbor and 21 years old when
he passed away. Pete really chose them, as many animals do, by meowing outside
the door of their condominium to let him in. They did let him in, and it was
one of the best things they ever did! They would invite him in and he would
visit regularly until the bond was great between them. Then they adopted him
from their neighbor. When Pete was 18 years old, and the only pet in the house
for 10 years, he warmly accepted a new feral cat, Luke, as his brother. Luke
was one of several stray cats that Niki fed and looked after on a regular
basis. Then the Shanahans moved to another neighborhood where they have seen very few
outdoor cats. However, Joey showed up looking scruffy and in need of a home a little before Pete passed away. They took him in just after Pete went home to
heaven.
After Pete’s passing, Niki felt
driven to find the answer to the question of what happens to animals after they
die. She researched, studied, prayed, and soon a book began to develop from her
findings. She did not initially plan to write a book, but rather to find the
answer. Once she found the answer, she felt that she would like to share her
findings with other people to give them hope and comfort during their time of
sorrow.
Niki was brought up by parents
who were strong Christians believing in the Bible. Her father, John
Behrikis, was an ordained
minister who had a part-time evangelical ministry, and he taught Sunday School.
Her mother, Christine, was a Sunday School teacher and President of the Women’s Group in
their church. See their photos to the right. Growing up Niki participated in her church by singing in the
choir, joining the youth group, and functioning as Sunday School secretary.
Scripture discussion and prayer in her family were a part of their lives. She is
quite accustomed to the King James Version, since it was the Bible version of
choice during her youth. That made the research an easier task since Strong’s
Concordance, which was used for research to find the original Greek and Hebrew
words, is based on the King James Version.
Niki is a member
of the Cat Writer’s Association and the Publisher’s Marketing Association, a
self-published author, and web mistress of this site.
