Abraham Lincoln Rescued Birds
Once, while riding through the country with some other lawyers, Lincoln was missed from the party, and was seen loitering near a thicket of wild plum trees where the men had stopped a short time before to water their horses. “Where is Lincoln?” asked one of the lawyers. “When I saw him last,” answered another, “he had caught two young birds that the wind had blown out of their nest, and was hunting for the nest to put them back again.”
As Lincoln joined them, the lawyers teased him on his tender-heartedness, and he said: — “I could not have slept unless I had restored those little birds to their mother.” Lincoln had several pets. He had a turkey named Jack, two goats named Nanny and Nanko, ponies, cats, dogs, pigs and a white rabbit. Another interesting fact about Abraham Lincoln was that he used to spend one hour each morning reading the Bible!

Dolphins Protect Swimmers From Shark
In Wellington, New Zealand a pod of dolphins circled protectively round a group of New Zealand swimmers to fend off an attack by a great white shark. Lifesavers Rob, his daughters Niccy, Karina and Helen were swimming 300 feet off Ocean Beach near Whangarei on New Zealand’s North Island when the dolphins herded them — apparently to protect them from a shark. “They started to herd us up, they pushed all four of us together by doing tight circles around us,” Rob told the New Zealand Press Association (NZPA).
Rob tried to drift away from the group, but two of the bigger dolphins herded him back just as he spotted a 9-foot great white shark swimming towards the group. “I just recoiled. It was only about 2 meters (6 feet) away from me, the water was crystal clear and it was as clear as the nose on my face,” Rob said. “They had corralled us up to protect us,” he said. The lifesavers spent the next 40 minutes surrounded by the dolphins before they could safely swim back to shore.

bird
out of the snare of the fowlers:
the snare is broken, and we are escaped.
